My heart belonged to Branch and Brooks Valentine since we were children, when we were all too naïve to know what that even meant. We didn’t understand that when we became adults, love would change us. I had to make a choice and when I did, it ripped our bond apart. Brooks left town, and he took half of my heart with him. It was difficult, but I coped and planned my future with Branch. I thought I’d made the right decision. I loved him and I always had.Brooks showed up to be our best man the night before our nuptials. After drinks and too much reminiscing, I ended up in bed with the wrong brother. To avoid the humiliation and the fact that I’d ruined all of our lives, I left Branch and the only family I’d ever known. That’s where my story should have ended. Two years, one beautiful little girl and an abusive marriage later, I was standing there staring at the man that would always hold my heart. The only question was…Would I give it to himI’m Katy Michaels and this is my story.
Review by: Joanna Booklover Hoover ***5 Stars *** I must first warn you, this is a very “Deep” and very “Emotional” read. If you are looking for a light and funny one, turn around and walk the other direction. This is a story of a girl, being in love with two men, one being right for her, one not. This is a story of Katy, who has tragedy in her young life and ends up living with her next door neighbors who have two twin boys, Branch and Brooks. She has known these boys from very young, and had a very close friendship and love for both of them. When they get older, she has to pick one, and she picks the wrong one.She feels she disappoints the only family she knows and she runs, and then her life continues to have love, friendship and heartache. She knows what she has done is wrong, and is still in love with one of the boys. The love between the two is so strong that they try to find their way back to each other. The things they have to do to get to where they should have been all along is a very emotional journey. This is a wonderful story about family, love and friendship and about how no matter what, when your true love is out there, try not to fight it, because you should really be together. If Katy knew that in advance she would not have gone through everything she went through. (She should have asked me)I do want to say, I wanted to throw my E-Reader several times, worried about what is going to happen next. The way Jennifer Foor writes sucks you into the story and you feel everything that the characters are feeling. (At least it did me.) I normally don’t like to read books with a “love triangle” or “cheating” and this book sort of has both of that. But I didn’t mind it in here. You could see the reason why things happened, and it was handled the best way possible. There were times I wanted to just email her and find out what happens next before I read it, because I wasn’t sure I could handle more heartache. I stuck it out, and I survived, and you will to. Just read the book… You won’t regret it.
