The Danaan Trilogy – Book One
Brandee’s Review:
Laura had me at the cover….ok and then the blurb….then the Teaser she posted of the first couple chapters…. I was surprisingly hooked and could not wait to read this. I used to be a big fantasy/paranormal reader and have recently gotten away from it a bit since gears are being changed a lot recently and these books are not as “common” as they once were. When I say paranormal, I do not solely mean vampires/werewolves/ghosts….my definition of the genre is much more broad and includes anything that is not 100% “real”, guardians/protectors, fae, chosen, angels/devils, vampires, shapeshifters/werevolves, ghosts, seers, time-travel, etc. Not saying that I do not believe in the possibility of some of these types of paranormals being “real”…..I am open-minded LOL (or a dreamer….you can conclude which one). The book is not long, but the story was told completely and I did not feel slighted. This book is beautifully written, which made it so easy to read. I did have to pay closer attention when it got to more detailed descriptions of “the fantasy aspect” of the story, but that is only because I am not as familiar with this type of “fantasy/paranormal”. My ONLY complaint is the ending….there was not a cliffhanger, but more of a “to be continued……” type of ending, and I wanted MORE…right then….BUT hey that is the game right?!? …..hook….line…sinker! Good job Laura, I am hooked and now anxiously awaiting book #2! Can’t wait to see where Laura will go next with this series! If you are a lover of fantasy and romance or want to get away from “real” for a little while, I highly recommend this debut story from Laura Howard.About Laura Howard
Laura Howard lives in New Hampshire with her husband and four children. Her obsession with books began at the age of 6 when she got her first library card. Nancy Drew, Sweet Valley High and other girly novels were routinely devoured in single sittings. Books took a backseat to diapers when she had her first child. It wasn’t until the release of a little novel called Twilight, 8 years later, that she rediscovered her love of fiction. Soon after, her own characters began to make themselves known. The Forgotten Ones is her first published novel.
