Books-A-Million: http://bit.ly/1l1XnW0Indie Bound: http://bit.ly/1fMm8Fj From #1 New York Times bestselling author Abbi Glines comes the story of Grant, the sexy playboy who first captured readers’ hearts in Fallen Too Far.When Harlow Manning’s rocker father goes on tour, he sends her to Rosemary Beach, Florida, to live with her half-sister, Nan. The problem: Nan despises her. Harlow has to keep her head down if she wants to get through the next nine months, which seems easy enough. Until gorgeous Grant Carter walks out of Nan’s room in nothing but his boxer briefs.Grant made a huge mistake getting involved with a girl with venom in her veins. He’d known about Nan’s reputation, but still he couldn’t resist her. Nothing makes him regret the fling more than meeting Harlow, who sends his pulse racing. Yet Harlow wants nothing to do with a guy who could fall for her wicked half-sister—even if there are no strings between Grant and Nan. Grant is desperate to redeem himself in Harlow’s eyes, but did he ruin his chances before he even met her? Take a Chance is the FIRST book for this couple. So it can be a stand-alone (while I do not recommend that). However, if you want to read about all the characters in Rosemary Beach you need to read them in this order:
First, I am to tell you that while I have read Abbi’s books before, this was the “first” Rosemary Beach Book that I have read. When I agreed to read this book as part of the blog tour, I saw that it was book #1 in Chances Series –and thought a spin-off of Rosemary Beach. My advice to you is that I strongly recommend that you would read the other books to the series in order before beginning this book. I think that I did not do myself any favors and felt ripped off by reading this one first. Take a Chance is the first book with “this” couple – Grant & Harlow – so it could technically be read as a stand-alone, however, not having read any of the others and just knowing the information about those prior books because hearing book talk about them, gave me only a part picture of all the characters and relationships in this story.I believe that if I had read all the other books already (or at least most of them) that the story would have grabbed my attention and heart a bit more than it did. I am a big fan of Abbi’s writing and her books – that has not changed, but I felt like I was constantly reading spoilers to myself of the other books in this series that I have but have not read yet (totally my fault). It was also taking me a while to put together who all these characters were. Like I said, I am only telling you this because I highly recommend that you would not read this book first BEFORE reading the other Rosemary Beach books FIRST.Before I get into the review, I just want to say that I strongly recommend reading all the other books in the series before reading this one. Grant’s story is tied in quite strongly with both Rush and Woods’ (and with everyone else in Rosemary Beach) and I really feel like they should all be read in order. There are a lot of characters too so it would be good to go in with a bit of a refresher on them first.I did like the characters that “I” was introduced to in this book (although, at points did NOT like Grant so much – you will see why) and I very much did enjoy this story and can’t wait for the continuation of Grant and Harlow’s story – since it was left unfinished and was a cliffhanger. I was actually disappointed when I got to the end to find out that I would not be having an ending I was used to while reading Abbi’s Sea Breeze books – where each book was different couples and they would have their story told and “finished” by the end of the book. So, when I finished Take a Chance – I can say that I was not pleased that I have to wait for the ending of my story, when I thought I was just getting there. I understand that the other books in this series have similar cliffhanger type of endings – so if you were ok with them and were able to survive until the next book, I suppose you will be okay with this ending also. However, I am not typically the type that has the patience to wait… so I am impatiently waiting for the conclusion “One More Chance” due in September 2014…..But because of Abbi’s storytelling and the quality of her writing and what I think this book would have been to me had I read all the others, I would say that I highly recommend you pick up this series….
